- One of the most studied medications today for obesity and type 2 diabetes

- Reduces appetite, increases satiety, lowers food intake and improves glucose control

- Studies show up to 22.5% body-weight loss
How it's used
Keep the vial in the refrigerator. Treatment usually starts with a low dose of 2.5 mg, or 8 IU, measured with an , with no discomfort at all when injecting, for 4 weeks, so the metabolism can adapt. Then it moves to 5 mg, or 17 IU, for 10 weeks. Altogether, the 60 mg vial covers the treatment for 14 weeks or 3 and a half months. It is always injected in the abdomen, thigh or arm.
- The gradual increase mainly exists to reduce gastrointestinal side effects
- Minimum age: 18 for weight loss — from age 10, only for type 2 diabetes and under medical supervision. No maximum age
- Known side effects: nausea, feeling of fullness, diarrhea, constipation and vomiting, abdominal pain or discomfort, and significant appetite reduction. Most events described by the EMA (European Medicines Agency) were considered mild or moderate.
- Studies found cardiovascular and sleep apnea benefits

Understanding the comparison
To do the same 3.5-month (14-week) treatment, the math is very different:
Here: just 1 vial
The 60 mg vial already has everything: the 4 weeks at 2.5 mg and the 10 weeks at 5 mg. You pay once: R$1,200.00.
R$1,200.00
At the pharmacy, with Mounjaro: in steps
Step 1: 2.5 mg box
Lasts 1 month (4 weeks) and costs R$1,400.00.
Step 2: 5 mg boxes
Then you keep going for another 2.5 months (10 weeks), buying a 5 mg box every month: R$1,800.00 × 2.5 months = R$4,500.00.
In other words: to do the same treatment with Mounjaro you would spend R$5,900.00. Here, the whole treatment costs R$1,200.00. Just the 1st month at the pharmacy (R$1,400.00) already costs more than the full treatment here.

Warning: watch out for counterfeits
There are many counterfeit products coming from Paraguay, at attractive prices, that don't have the expected effect — often even in counterfeit original Mounjaro® packaging. Before buying, ask for the certificate of analysis.
